A Modest Princess

I was originally going to use a lace shirt and do a lace overlay on this dress, but having found a yellow t-shirt exactly the same as one of the colors in the print on the dress I really didn’t see the need for the lace. I also think the lace would have looked too busy with the floral print.

I first put the t-shirt and dress on and marked the desired height for the dress using a fabric disappearing ink pen.

Having cut out the skinny straps that came on the dress I pinned the dress to the t-shirt according to the markings made.

Finally I hand stitched the t-shirt to the dress, sewing just below the finished edge of the dress so the stitches would not be seen and leaving a small opening at the zipper.

Now I can wear the dress without worrying about it slipping off!
