The original idea for this 25 cent dress & 25 cent shirt was to refashion it into a dress but after some seam ripping deconstruction of the shirt we still didn’t like the collar and couldn’t come up with an idea so decided a skirt would be easier and ended up using the shirt to make inseam pockets.
First we seam ripped the bottom panel from the dress as well as the top and waistband.
We then ran three parallel gather stitches (longest stitch setting) around the top of the skirt.
We measured a length of wide elastic and sewed the ends together forming a loop.
The elastic was then sewn to the top of the skirt.
Having decided to add pockets, we seam ripped openings in the side seams large enough for the pocket.
Found a pocket pattern online, cut it out of the shirt fabric and sewed around the edges.
And finally sewed the pocket into the seam ripped openings, and now we have an awesome skirt with pockets!
So, what do you think ?
