A Modest Princess

Bust Resized: The dress was bought off the rack, and the only size available was several sizes too big. When Emily tried it on with the seamstress the sleeves fell off her shoulders but the seamstress told her that when she fully laced up the back they would stay up. Well, they didn’t and I could see a bigger problem – the bust was just too big, gaping off and looked terrible.

After Emily took the dress off, the easiest fix I could think of was to make some inside tucks and I thought if I made several small ones rather than one large one it might even out so I quickly basted a few tucks inside the bust and after another fitting it was already it was looking much better.

I later went back and resewed these inside tucks with invisible thread. The final result did create a little bunching, but it was in the armpit and not very visible.
