Yellow Lace Dress to Skirt

A friend who has moved came into town and we went on a resale shopping spree together, we were on our 3rd store and I’d been looking for a cute skirt but still hadn’t found one – then I thought to look at the dresses and found two I liked. I asked my friend which one she liked best, and she said ‘this one – but the yellow one is more YOU’ and she was so right, I LOVE this dress now refashioned into a skirt.

I tried it on in the store, and saw how easy this refashion would be- it was incredibly short as a dress but a great length when worn down on my hips.

All we need to do is remove the top and sleeves, oh and those belt loops.

A quick seam rip and hand stitch back together takes care of the belt loops.

3cut

In order to make sure the skirt would be long enough to be modest,  I cut as high up as possible on the dress.

I noticed this made uneven amounts in the middle and sides but figured the extra fabric would be useful in the rear and so left it that way with no adjustments to straighten or even it out.

I decided to hand stitch the top, otherwise a line of stitching would show and I didn’t think that would look as good as an invisible top hem.

All done, I had it on for mere seconds when my assistant asked to try to – and tested out the twirl, excellent!
