A Modest Princess

Filling in V-necks

For my body type V-necks NEVER work. They are always too low. And although I don’t mind the layered look of a tank-top underneath, I live in way too warm a climate to be wearing basically two shirts. So I took some tanks picked up for 25cents at the Thrift Outlet and cut out and sewed in the part needed to make these v-necks modest.

1cuttank

First I cut out the section of tank needed, making sure to get some of the cute lace. I cut a rectangle at first, to make sure to get enough coverage, I will trim it down later.

I then pinned the section into the v-neck.

Hand stitched in place so as to make the stitching invisible.

I then trimmed the excess and sewed the outside edge down – I sewed this from back to the inside collar of the v-neck so also invisible stitching.

And now I can have the coverage I need, layered look, added lace detail and a cute top added to my wardrobe (x3 as I repeated with the other colors).

So, what do you think ?
