A High-low skirt is usually too high in front to be modest but obviously nice and long in the back, so I decided to alter one. Both the skirt and dress were given to me – so free. I loved the print on the strapless dress and even made use of the pockets!
First I seam ripped the dress straight down the back, removing and saving the zipper for a future project.
Without any cutting, I pinned the opened dress to the front of the High Low skirt to see how it would look.
It worked so I sewed it on, trying to stitch on top of the stitching line from the hem of the high low skirt.
I then trimmed away the rest of the dress and was done with making the skirt modest, but that was too easy so I decided to add pockets.
This mini dress had awesome pockets so I seam ripped them out.
Seam ripped open the side of the skirt to match the size of the pocket.
Pinned and sewed the pockets in.
Now I have this awesome new flowy skirt with pockets! Have you ever worn a high low skirt? They are really fun to wear and I love the pop of color the floral print now gives to the skirt. Next time I might try to follow the curve of the skirt more rather than ‘fill in’ as I did on this one.
